how to separate registration email and notification email

hello all
ummmm guys i need a tip on how i can achieve the following...
my case is:
im restricting registration to only students in my university, where they have to enter their university email and then confirmation email will be sent to that email
the problem is: components send notifications to those emails .. and students dont usually check their uni email often ..
so i would like to allow students to choose another email where they get those components notifications
was i clear
any tip ?
