Creating a new Joomla site

- Hi everyone, I currently have online a site which was made entirely in dreamweaver which is still in use and I want to start building my first Joomla website with the excellent rocket theme templates. I would like to keep my existing site live and build the Joomla one in the background hidden away until it is ready to go live. What's the best way of doing this? Can I create the Joomla website in a subfolder and then when I am ready move it out of the subfolder to the frontend of the website? Will moving the Joomla site out of the subfolder affect the database etc? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Welcome David,
You have a few options:
1. Just build it locally using one of the Stand Alone Server Addons available at the Joomla extensions directory (JED).
2. Put it in a sub directory of your site and build it there. You could also make that directory into a sub domain.
To keep the site hidden, easiest way to do it is to just set the site as Offline in the global config, that way only you have the p/w to see how it's progressing.

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if someone can help me with this issue.
I have just become a member with Joomla, and bought my first RocketTheme and would like to set up my new reckettheme template and don't know how as I am completely new to this. I need to load it to my domain name the hall site and then edit the entire new site on my server. please help me thanks.

Hi Ukdelta,
You can go in for rocketlauncher package as it would provide you with complete replica of the demo template
Also, It has in-built joomla package in it so no worries of installating joomla package separately
