The absolute path to SMF may not be correct. It must be in order to opertate correctly. When you activate the bridge (same one I used) I got a blank white screen or sometimes the Internal Server Error message. To correct this and to get my site back up, I had to use my FTP program to manually edit out the bridge files and MyPHPadmin to 'drop' the database references to that bridge.
That was one problem.
I also had Gallery 2 installed and had a similar problem getting that bridge to behave properly. That error was caused by not having enough server memory (ram) allocated to me. I had to ask my hosting company to increase the memory. To do this they had to move my site to another server that was configured to allot me more memory for applications. Gallery 2 requires at least 16MB of memoy. The hosting company moved the site to a server that allots me 24MB. Plenty to work and plenty to get rid of the problem.
