    • I dont know, but try using the latest version of SMF Forum and bridge it through JSMF ( www.joomlahacks.com )

    • Tommy, that exact thing has happend before to me. Yes, make sure that you install the 'patch' as Billy suggests, but I don't think that may be the source of your problem.

The absolute path to SMF may not be correct. It must be in order to opertate correctly. When you activate the bridge (same one I used) I got a blank white screen or sometimes the Internal Server Error message. To correct this and to get my site back up, I had to use my FTP program to manually edit out the bridge files and MyPHPadmin to 'drop' the database references to that bridge.

      That was one problem.

I also had Gallery 2 installed and had a similar problem getting that bridge to behave properly. That error was caused by not having enough server memory (ram) allocated to me. I had to ask my hosting company to increase the memory. To do this they had to move my site to another server that was configured to allot me more memory for applications. Gallery 2 requires at least 16MB of memoy. The hosting company moved the site to a server that allots me 24MB. Plenty to work and plenty to get rid of the problem.

    • I have found with Joomlahacks bridge is you need to "unpatch" the bridge before you upgrade.
The option for that is in the install part available from the component management menus.

      Example:
installed SMF Forum installed on the same database as Joomla.
done [un-patch] Patch Joomla Source Files.
done [un-patch] Patch SMF Source Files (Note: Unpatch before upgrading SMF or installing mod.)

    • Granted, that is true with the Joomlahacks bridge, but the SMF bridge from the Simple Machines website seems to be a different animal, of sorts. I was able to upgrade from RC3 to SMF 1.1 with the bridge installed. No problem. Before I upgraded I looked to see if anywhere there was an admonition to unsync or uninstall the bridge. There was no information that I could find for that bridge, so I proceeded to upgrae. Again, no problem.

I have toyed with the idea of giving the Joomlahacks bridge another try with a new website I'm building. I'll run it on my local server before I upload. I've heard a lot of good things lately, but, in the past, for some reason it was problematic. I probably didn't hold my mouth in the correct shape. ;D

    • I heard same on Joomlahacks but seeing Andy using it here gave me more confidence it works.
It also supports CB so another reason I am looking at it as a solution.

All I need now is a great tool to find css conflicts! :)

    • Your SMF database has to have access to Joomla database and vise versa

That's DotEasy.com. The service there is OK, in some respects, but if you have a special need, it's a bit slower. It could be the time of year. Seems that I have made that request twice around the end of December, Billy. However, they seem to have a very well constucted control panel and every correspondence from them has been top drawer.
