done, but with errors on page

Posted 15 years 11 months ago
    • Hello,

Seems that all browsers work exemplary besides IE. Although the site loads great, there seems to be an error on the bottom left of my IE browser mentioning that I get errors...

after doing some further investigation, this is what I get...

      Line:46
      Char: 8
      Error: Object expected
      Code:0

      What the???

Seems like this happens on many other websites as well but only with IE.

      Any advice?

      Thanks.

    • If you can post a link it will be much easier for us to help you out.

IE handles javascript worse then other browsers so you tend to see java errors there and not elsewhere. This is most likely due to an add-on you have installed, a component, module, or plugin.

With a link, we can use some webtools to find out where the error is coming from!

    • I have this issue too with some installs. Can you post publically your solutions?

It really depends on what 3rd party extensions you've installed.

(The template doesn't generate errors with a standard install, so it's usually what you add that causes a problem.)

So providing link to your site in your post is really key in getting the issue resolved.

You could always start unpublishing any 3rd party components and figure out at what point the error goes away.

When you identify the culprit, you can contact the developer for support.

    • Hello,

I did some investigation into this matter and found IE 8 to be quite helpful in identifying the exact files in question. I also ran a validator test validator.w3.org/ and freaked to see the number of errors involved.

The culprit actually turned out to be a CSS/JS compress extension that I use for older template such as hivemind. Do you think rokgzip and work for the old templates?

      Thanks. It's the extensions.

    • Some of the newer things like GZipper might just need to be tested. We haven't had a lot of time to play with these new toys either. Try things on a test site first though!
