    Create "New Pages"

Posted 15 years 10 months ago
    • I have a client who has Publisher permissions (or author permissions - whatever so they can edit content on their site - but not full Admin permissions).

They have a page called EVENTS under a menu item called EVENTS. However, they want to be able to create new pages for each new event - that will be linked from the main Events page. Is there some way they can do that with the New Page feature? I tried, but it didn't seem to work right for me.

      Thanks!

    • Hi Naci,

Thanks... If you take a look at this page you'll see what's happening:

      suddefrancewines.com/our-events/special-events.html

I typed the first line, then I hit Enter a couple of times and then clicked the Page Break button. In the editing box it put a squiggly line across the page indicating that whatever was typed under it would be another page.

Then I typed "This is a special event 2" on what should have been a new page. You can see how it shows up.

On another site I did, a box called ARTICLE INDEX came up - and that's what I'd like to have happen here but I can't remember how I did it over there! The other site is:

alphamanvsgod.com/excerpts.html - you can see the Article Index thing there

    • Ahh! The client deleted my example! Sorry about that. So here are two screen shots - first one is the admin screen showing the squiggly line where I inserted the PAGEBREAK, and the second one showing how that appeared on the site.

Let me know if this makes sense. Thanks Nanci!

    • Hi Nanci,

Now I'm confused! I'm not sure what you mean by "everything above the line previews". These aren't previews - this is the whole text.

So in other words what you see above & below the line is the entire text for those two pages.

What I would like it to do is create an ARTICLE INDEX - that links everything below the PageBreak lines to a separate page - like what you have here:

      alphamanvsgod.com/excerpts.html

See the section to the right of the main article column called ARTICLE INDEX... that's what I want it to do. And I did that by inserting PageBreaks into the article. Then it created that index automatically.

Now, I'm doing the same thing (or at least I think I am!) and it's just putting all the text on one page.

suddefrancewines.com/our-events/special-events.html (look fast - I can't guarantee the client won't change it)! But you should just see the same text repeated over and over again. Everytime it's repeated it's supposed to be a new page.

      THANKS!
