Ok, your not following my instructions, i'll repeat them with some bolding:
"... should be set to moomenu by default, but if you click on the template name in the template manager of the administrator, you will be confronted with extensive configuration options. if you scroll down you will see the bits pertaining to the menu, including the bits that configure the menu type, moomenu being one of them:.."
It's the template properties, you want, not the menu item properties. it's also stated on these pages:

That it's in the template configuration.

Best thing for you to do, is to install the RocketLauncher, and then you will get a good feel for things.
