    RokVirtuemart Scroller question

Posted 15 years 10 months ago
    • Hello!

I have 1 VM store set up for our company.
Visually, it is divided into 2 of our brands (using VM Mynxx for both, but different themes):

Each Store needs a certain category of products to be shown in the scroller.
Store A scroller is set up with only 28 products / excluding the featured / by oldest added first.
Store B scroller is set up with only the featured products

Is there any way to pull products by category or a way to re-order my product id #'s?
It's difficult and time consuming, to have to clone products and delete the old ones, just to get certain products to display in one scroller and be excluded in the other.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    • Anyone any ideas on this one, the ability to specify certain categories to display in this module (as per the featured products module) would be ideal! :)

    • HUGE issue regarding the above:

All of my products belong in 2 categories. (Main Category, Product Line Category)
Because they are in 2 categories, the product scroller is doubling the images in the scroller!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, or else I'm sadly not going to be able to use this template / module.

    • Hello,

I have exactly the same problem (products being dublicated)- Is there any workaround? Also i can not get the ADD TO CART button to display.

    • Hello tonak,

A quick fix would be hacking the helper.php at modules/mod_rokvirtuemart_scroller

At line 56 you can add at the query --- AND pc.category_id=XX --
where as xx you will put the ID of your top category (the one that is common for all the products since they are part of two or more categories)

This way the module will show products form the common category only and they will not be dublicated!

For me it works p- hope it works for you too.

    • Sorry for the delayed response - been out of country!

      Tsio-
If I can now specify the category ID by using this method, would it be possible to create separate scrollers that are by category IDs?
      Example:
Web Page 1 would have scroller ID 1
Web Page 2 would have scroller ID 2
Web Page 3 would have scroller ID 3
      ect, ect.

I ask this because our company has 2 separate Brands that we want to display in separate stores/scrollers.

      Thanks for your help!
      I will try this out!

I have a question, if you have a product in a top level category just say in mens clothes and then appears in a sublevel category jackets, it appears twice in the scroller!!

Any way to select certain categories. Or a hack around this?
