When you use FireBug, it tells you which file to edit after you preview your changes.
You have to make the edits through Joomla's Template Manager, or by directly edit the file in your FTP client, or through your host's CPanel.
If you are editing the file on your local host, you'll need to upload the file to the proper directory.
For example, if you are editing the template.css file locally, it needs to be uploaded to joomla/templates/the-name-of-your-template/css
Thanks,
jim
