    Acess permissions for multiple sites

Posted 15 years 9 months ago
    • Hi there!
Finally i got my first project. :) .The guy ordered a online store for me.He needs like two stores.1 for retail and another for wholesale.
So,my idea is create a main site in Joomla! using a RT of course(i was thinking replicant v2),wich would be like a portal for the two stores. This two stores i will build using cs-cart.
Now the question is:should i create the 2 stores as a subdomains or in a sub folder(thinking about googles search)?
The other big question is that the guy wants the link for the wholesale store private for registered users,so that's my doubt, how to create this register form to the wholesale shop independent of the normal registering process of joomla?
the basic idea is:1.go to main domain(joomla site)2.two links (wholesale and retail)3.click retail and goes to retail cs-cart.4.click on wholesale and open a sign up up page wich acees will be granted after sign up redirecting to wholesale cs-cart.
Basically i need to password protect the link to the wholesale shop.
Hope i was clear.Any advice or different suggestions are very welcome... :P

    • i've been thinking about it and i think i found a solution.I would password protect the sub domain wholesale in my cpanel.

step two would be create a button in Joomla wich would give acess to this domain.

and this button would be available only for registered users in the joomla site.

the question now is.How to create this button wich grants acess to a password protect domain? Is that possible?
      any advice welcome :)

    • Hello,

Last time RT had RokAccess, but it's only for Joomla 1.0. It will be developed more for Joomla 1.5 I think

In the mean time, you may try hider

    • Hi !!!
I decided what to do now.Create a contact page specially for the wholesale shop(avoiding joomla sign up,because the person will have to sign up for the shop anyway). After my client received this email,he would aproved the person to have acess to the wholesale shop, wich would be a secure protect sub domain with cs cart, and send them the password and user by email.
      What you think?

    • May I ask a question instead of solution?
      - How would you create a contact page for the wholesale shop?

i just would do a page with com_contact +mod_custom with a banner inside redirecting for the su domain where CS CART would be installed :cheesy:

    • Hi,

Have you considered using Virtue Mart for the cart. It support shopping groups like wholesale and retail so you can have separate price structures for each shopping group.

That way you don't have to deal with 2 sites.

    • yes.I did considered virtue mart.But after using for few months i was very unhappy,since there's many bugs.So i changed to cs-cart,wich i'm very happy,and i don't mind doing 2 installs...(i mean 3 with Joomla!)
