I need a module that works just like the default joomla 'most read' module, often styled 'most popular' except that I need it to show most popular article for the preceding 7 days.
In other words, I want a "Top Stories This Week" module for a news site.
(Would be great if could also be confiqured to show "Today's Top Stories")

Try the option-heavy Display News by BK:
extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...nk_id,736/Itemid,35/
It should easily be possible to set the flag to "show most read" and then configure a date range...(you can set it to X number of previous days).
I've used it on a couple of sites and the configuration options are awesome - and it even has it's own CSS so you can really customize the look. - Toolbox Digital | Dribbble | Forrst

- If that doesn't work for you, it would probably be *fairly* easy to modify the code of the normal 'most popular' module and adjust it to select only a date range of 7 days instead of the whole table.

Agreed--Display News by BK is one of the very best out there. It is so flexible and configuarable. I have multiple copies all over my site doing all kinds of different things!
