different modules in same spot for public and registered

  • different modules in same spot for public and registered

    • Is there a way to have different modules in the same spot for a registered user and for public? Like say on the public homepage I want a picture of a working module, but it be just an image so they can't actually use it. However if they are a registered user, it is a true working module. I see a way of posting a module only when logged in, however I do not see a way of stopping a module that is set as public to stop showing once you are logged in as a registered user.

      Thanks,
      David Henderson

    • That's the idea of what I want, but for modules, not content.

      Have you tried using different access levels for each module?

      For instance, module "just an image" in module position X set to Public and module "for registered users only" in module position X set to Registered.

      Just a thought, I don't know if this will do what you want.

      Best of luck and cheers!

      also, when you set the permissions, make sure that in your module manager your registered access module is listed before the public access module. If the module position only has space for one module then i think will work exactly as you want it to. However if it is a big module position like the left or right modules, both modules will show to registered members.

      hope this helps

      Yes, that is the problem I am having. I am using the right module position. I have a picture of a media player playing a show for the unregistered people, then I embedded a real media player to play stuff for the registered members. Problem is, when you login as a registered member, you get both..the fake player that is just an image, and the real one. Any thoughts as to how I can make the image module spot go away once someone logs in?

    • Maybe you can use RokGuest and/or RokMember extension?

    • you need:
      - rokmember
      - rokguest
      and
      - Content Item Module

      then Pubblish the module with the video in different (not used) position, for ex. user 8 and user 9)
      Create a content with:
      {guest}
      {mosloadposition user8}
      {/guest}
      {user}
      {mosloadposition user9}
      {/user}

      Pubblish the "Content Item Module" with the ID of the content just created in the position where do you want the video.
      Let me know. ;)

      let us all know william :)

      sounds like it could work. if it does, thank you andrea

      seems the solution lay in thinking "out of the module(*box*)" :)
