    Some thoughts about the templates

Posted 15 years 9 months ago
    • Hello RT-Team,

First of all allow me to compliment you on the templates you provide time after time with top notch quality and functionality. It is amazing you find each time new options and functionality to put you ahead of your competition. Kudo's for that.

I like to share some concerns though expressed now multiple times by many of our clients when we refer them to the demo.rockettheme.com website. All clients state that they like the quality, functionality and professionalism....Many though lately come back to us with simple remarks like:
its okay.. too much space up top..
Only thing I like is menu....rest too crowded
need to scroll down before seeing any content
These quotes I can concur to and they are translated to imho Web 2.0 missing. Every template lately published (especially the latest August template Nexus which takes a full 17" screen for the header area before seeing some content) except for Mynxx (which had a clear functional header) has show loads of garbage in show-time which most of the times we install an RT-template (which is rather often as insiders know) will be removed either in unpublishing mods or recoding headers.

The main reason of most people to choose other templates example from Yootheme or from JA (no comments pls) is the large "header" area's of most RT-templates before content being presented. I know you live by the majority of the figures but please consider also Web 2.0 and business templates? Everything becomes more and more fast loading without all kinds of "mind-blowing" stuff and for 100% sure you can design a very nice lightweight template around K2 (as example) without all the heavy powered modules.....

Your quality rocks but you might need to review some approaches......Maybe a good idea to create: W2.0/Business/General sections in the Club........

Just 5 ct's which might make a world of difference....

      Keep on the good work!

      Leo

    • Thanks for the comments leo. I just want to mention that those 'showcase' modules are completely optional, and usually they are flexible in how much size they take up. The sub-pages of the demo generally show how the designs look with minimal or no showcase areas. These showcase areas are pretty much the standard operating procedure for modern websites, at least on the homepage where you need key news or information clearly highlighted.

    • Andy,
I am fully aware of the fact that they are flexible, collapsible or whatever. The comments come from end-users and are based on first impression visiting the demo-site and that impression makes or breaks a sale for you! For us it is easy and pleasant to have a client purchase a template from you since we know the coding, methods, tricks and ease of modifying so we push as hard we can but we see lately many people move to Yootheme and others because of that specific first impression. If you simply look at the attachment what I see on my 17" monitor you must agree that this does not give any info at all without criticizing the plate or quality. I have on Nexus (as example) a full screen of no info and the information starts below what I initially see. That is what our clients mean. Again nothing negative meant .....in contrary
