Local Site will no longer open

Hi everyone....here's a weird one. I have about 6 joomla sites I'm working on. 2 of them for some reason will not open locally anymore....They were fine a few days ago. ALL my other local joomla RT sites are fine. SO, I downloaded a backup I had uploaded for a client preview, I opened it in a new different named folder locally. ( I use joomlapack) I did the restore and changed the database name as I went through the local install. It still didn't open. What would keep the site from opening locally? Any guesses. The site is refraction in both cases...I'm using Mac Leopard, and I am using MAMP.

- As a follow up...I downloaded a brand new version (RL) and opened a new site. It will also not open locally. Has there been any reports of any hacking to refraction?? I am ONLY having this issue with refraction. I have two working versions of the important sites on test directories. They function. LOcally when I go to the site, the page looks like it's trying to open but nope.....it just remains blank. HELP! :shock:

hi keith,
dont want to scare you but maybe you got hacked...
not sure exactly how things are with mamp, but usually you will have to change some settings for the local server so it can only be opened from your own machine. otherwise everyone who knows how things work can get access to it.
there is a nice tutorial on how to secure phpmyadmin etc. in xampp, i assume this applies to mamp as well.

I think I did too....and It has to do with Twitter.......I just disabled twitter updates through each site, and now I'm good....weird thing is even a fresh install of a refraction site will not work until i remove twitter. It is definitely a LOCAL issue, so I say you are correct. I will begin watching and looking at security....
