    SOLVED SEO CHALLENGE

Posted 15 years 8 months ago
    • Hi there!
I've just finished a website for my first client! :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:
He wanted just an ecommerce website, but i built for him a portal(joomla),containing network and shopping cart(cscart).
      Have a look:
      www.funkysheila.com
Now i will start doing some SEO for him.It will be a challenge for me(and for him),as he is a small company, and he doesn't have a huge budget to expend with advertisiments....So i will go more for organic search, linkbaits, reviews(more non commercial techniques)
I've been reading a lot about SEO for small business, but there's some questions going round and round my brain that i would like opinions...
first thing would be the fact that the main domain ( www.funkysheila.com ) is the joomla. And the Shop(cs cart),is installed in a subfolder( www.funkysheila.com/shop ).Since i'm using Joomla only as a portal,i don't have much content on it.The content would be in shop ( www.funkysheila.com/shop ),where all the products are stored with their descriptions. My question is:I need to submit them to Google's as independent websites with independent sitemaps? It would be better if the shop was in a different domain or maybe in a sub domain(for seo purposes)?

    • I don't think you have to worry about such things if you let component_xmap create your site maps and the sub-directory isn't an actual "sub-domain" - which would probably require a bit more special handling. Let xmap generate your over all site maps and submit the one or as many as you like. Xmap makes life easy for these submissions.

      Reguards,
      Doc

    • Whatz up doc!?!!?!
Thanks for the info.I downloaded already xmap.So you say that it will produce 1 map for the hole thing if i want to.That's good.but there's still something i don't understand...The shopping cart(cs cart) creates by it self already a site map ,see link:
      www.funkysheila.com/shop/index.php?target=sitemap
you think that would be better delete cart site map and create a new one using xmap?Or maybe is possible to integrate them..(i still have to read the "manuals"...). :cheesy:
