    Delete files from editor

Posted 15 years 7 months ago
    • Hi everyone,

      I would like to know:

      1) if there is a possibility once inside the editing of an article from frontend to delete files. In fact now I'm playing with MixMag but it's common to other packages so probably it's a Joomla problem. I upload a .jpg file and system says it already exists. In my application I have same names of pics so I need to overwrite them or at least delete the old ones before uploadiing new ones. Can anyone help?

      2) is it possible always in editing mode while choosing an image to publish to see files with non graphic extensions let's say as .pdf or .doc ? Would appreciate to know how.

      Many Thanks

      Albert

    • While you are waiting for a response here, you should search or post on joomla.org, as these questions are not directly related to the template.
    • Thanks,

    • Hi Jem,

    • Hi Albert, I am reasonably certain you cannot delete images from the front end as this for one would be a security concern. You say you have a need to overwrite images, if this for your own use can you not either use FTP or JoomlaExplorer to achieve this?

If you are wanting to include resources such as PDF files to your articles, you also can either upload them first with FTP or JoomlaExplorer or through media manager and then add a link in the article content. You could also use RokDownloads this also has a handy button to link to the download resource or the simplest option is to use a module such as Attachments for content from JED extensions.joomla.org/extensions/3115/details
      Hope this helps a little

    • Hi Emma,
you are right about using FTP or else in order to overwrite images. But my problem was trying to make users that are only publishers, go through edit from frontside and just upload images with same name in order to avoid any other operation and make images change on website.

About .pdf files these same users just upload a .pdf as it was an image and after that they make a link to the file through the editor.

Just downloaded Attachments and must say it's very nice. That was a great suggestion . Thank you for your time. :)
