I think you mean Zing Atomizer. That's an effect that you use when you want to have the frontpage break up into tiny bits, like a sneeze. It's especially looks great after you drink a whole bottle of DayQuil.
Seriously, Chris, Zend Optimizer is installed on your server and is supposed to accelerate the performance of certain PHP apps. Not sure how it would effect Joomla itself. I would think it speeds it up.
