Sometimes I have problems like that on my mac caused by my fontmanagement "suitcase".
I have so many versions of Arial, Geneva and Helvetica on my comp so the software seems to be irritated ... - Last Edit: 15 years 6 months ago by Henning.

played around a little bit and, by changing the "geneva" font via firebug to something else, normal characters appear!?
you guys are using rockgzipper? because firebug reporting css files like: demo.rockettheme.com/oct09/templates/rt_...721fdb4f57150288.php - perhaps some issue there?
on my side the "geneva" font will work fine in ms office 2007, openoffice, k-meleon, opera 10 and chrome - only ff and ie8 are affected. no font management tools installed

The CSS sets a font for this page and for some reason your setup is using this "font" as best match.
When you look at your fonts folder on your pc do you see any font the looks like what you are seeing? - Magento - phpBB3 - Kunena - RokBridge Specialist

Still looking at this.
I an trying to dup this locally but can't find the error that is causing this.
Like your setup is not downloading some part of the css for this demo site.
