Publishing Modules to Pages without Menu Link (inactive mod)

There is a method to do this that has been explained before, and it obviously is working on the rockettheme demo server. However, no matter what I try I cannot duplicate this effect. The inactive module position is in the index.php file contained within the code...

Now, if I put a module in that position it shows up on the page without a menu item. However, it also shows up on every other page on the site (since it is assigned to ALL menu items) which is not what the idea is. Is this something that was fixed in Joomla! 1.5.14? I'm assuming it is a problem with the IF function of !isset returning true even if the page is already linked to a menu item.
Any thoughts? Is there some other configuration option here that I am missing?

Not sure if you want it in an article but if you do you can create your own new position name, but its not in the index.php file. Just add it to the position list in the module position drop down menu

this is an invaluable joomla default function! Work well, no need to create menu item. - Always post a link to your site when asking Questions!

Thanks for your reply, however this is not what I need. The function I am referring to is to insert a module on a component page that doesn't have a menu link. Also, it needs to be a module position that is outside the area of the template that contains content. The specific example is that this is for a login page. When a user clicks an article that is 'registered' only, they are taken to a login screen. This is the screen that needs to have a module displayed on it in a certain position. The only way to do this is to use the 'inactive' module bug since this login screen specifically doesn't have a menu item available to assign it to.
Hopefully that clarifies things.

I appear to be in the same boat as you, or at least similar.
I'm trying to link to an article from my main page, but I do not want this article on my main menu. I tried creating a hidden menu, but when I am on the page that houses this article and I mouse over any area of my Main menu, it causes the page to move slightly (as if the header is being re-sized). When I make the same article accessible from my Main menu, the page and menu work perfectly.
So my problem is, how can I link to an article without the Rockettheme template moving on a menu mouseover? Take a look, here's a link:

Just move your mouse back and forth over the HOME menu option and watch the header re-size itself. It seems to me that Joomla is searching for the "Hidden" menu. But it's hidden, of course. - Last Edit: 14 years 7 months ago by quantumottle.

I hear ya bro. It's almost exactly one year later and it's STILL apparently not possible to get support help with this issue. Not sure if nobody knows or maybe nobody has read this question. Either way, this is very frustrating.
