Not too many corporate templates in Rockettheme

Posted 15 years 7 months ago
    • I have been looking for templates in Rockettheme that can be used for corporate websites. I notice most of the templates, particularly the ones this year, look pretty much the same and are aimed mostly for community and entertainment websites. Many of them look like the previous ones, with different graphics. There may be better technology behind them, but they look similar nonetheless. One exception is the free Afterburner template, which does give a corporate look (although a simple one).

Is there a reason Rockettheme doesn't focus on providing any corporate templates? Very few of the templates have been liked by corporate clients (a few that are usable are Terrantribune, Hivemind, Chromatophore, Afterburner, etc.).

Any help or guidance will be appreciated. Maybe you could point me to some Rockettheme Labs templates that can be used. Mostly what I see are flash looking ones with more focus on art than a professional, corporate layout where I can show products and services - like the ones I see on different companies' websites.

    • Thanks for your quick responses. Yes, I did see Infuse and have also looked at Versatility 4 (which is nice. It is a good improvement from Versatility III from 2 years ago which was great but had most color combination sets that weren't usable without modifying CSS). The feedback about Infuse, Solarcentinel, Affinity, Refraction, etc. is that color for pull-downs are so similar to their backgrounds that the characters are hard to read (this is very apparent in Solarcentinel). Most preset styles that are dark have everything dark and are going to be used for maybe sites for DJs and music artists, but not by the normal companies.

Most corporate sites have darker pull-downs with crisp boxes and have a white or near-white background. My suggestion for your template designers would be to take a look around websites and see how they have laid out their websites (particularly for the new startup companies, which tend to use very trendy, nice sites). I generally notice a lack of creativity in new templates, these are just repeats. The technology may be superior month-after-month, but the external appearance is unattractive and largely unusable.

Most templates after February all look same with flowery layouts. I do understand it takes a lot of work to do templates, but I wanted to give you feedback that none of our customers liked any of them. Some older templates are still popular, but the news ones aren't being chosen at all. The new Infusion is a nice change with the addition of a Simple Background (the heavy backgrounds are again too dark and gloomy and hardly usable).

I don't know if I make sense, but I wanted to give you the feedback that we have received, and it is very similar among all customers for most of the templates for 2009.

    • Flowery. ;)

I'll just add that I really miss a suckerfish menu option, too. Flowery and full of JS with sliding thing-a-ma-jings and double split panel flyout menu action column stuff.
