Is it possible to reduce the amount of code?

The source code of a Joomla page is endless. I checked my home page:
Text that appears to the visitor: 5.500 characters (831 words).
Source: 60.300 characters.
It's only the source code that is counted. No external js or css files.
Is there a way to reduce the code? The loading time must be better. And, if I'm not mistaken, it also matters regarding SEO.
(I'm using Affinity, but I'll guess this is a general question)

In regards to your question it's possible but you would need to be selective based upon the options and positions you are using. But could you please provide a link to your page so I can have a look and maybe offer some alternative advice? -
