    Joomla versus Wordpress

Posted 15 years 6 months ago
    • I was very excited to see that Rocket Theme is now doing wordpress templates. Overall I think the RT themes are outstanding and look excellent.

I was wondering, in what instances would you choose Wordpress over Joomla or vice versa? I have a wordpress blog that is very fast, functional and easy to use... I have been creating a test site with Joomla and RT templates but it seems much slower and a bit more complicated...WP has the capability to almost be a full CMS these days and seems faster...and could look great with RT templates

If you were doing a corporate type site which would you start with?

      Thanks for the feedback

    • Basically you already hit the nail on the head. WordPress is a straight up blog, with some great extras, but it's really not a CMS. If you need a more complex site with more 'features' than your probably looking at Joomla as your best option, but if you just mainly need a blog, portfolio, or even a simple shop site, then WordPress is a great option.

    • It would be great if this thread could develop to a kind of "checklist" of criteria, to help people better decide between Joomla / Wordpress for different kinds of sites.

Hey, savvy members, please drop by and post some opinions and examples...
