    • You're not 'buying templates', you are paying for access to all the templates, not just the one you choose to use when you first join.

When you join, you are purchasing 'entitlements', i.e., how many live sites you can use RT templates on, 1, 2,3, etc, and a certain amount of time for access to the template related forums, 60, 180, or 365 days.

Once you join, you and download any or all of the templates, but in order to receive support beyond the subscription you've chosen, you need to renew.

There's no way to tell which template you are using and allow you perpetual access to that particular forum.

And, what happens when you change templates, there's no way to tell which forum you should be 'locked out of' and which forum you should be allowed to access next.

If you join for 60 days, use one template, get your site up and running, and at the end of your subscription, decide to switch templates, seems only fair that you renew to receive additional support for the 'new' template.

Both sides have points, but like I said, it seems dev's really come out in the mass which shows team support which is fine and dandy, but my point still stands.

And, I for one am sure that there are others who have found themselves in the same boat and question integrity, even if from the dev's point it does not merit outbursts brought on by unwarranted stress.

Your point doesn't stand at all, that's what everyone is telling you. You just don't want to listen because it doesn't fit your particular point of view. As for "devs" coming out in support you are aware that Devs are customers, right? We're not on the RocketTheme "team". We paid more that's all, we don't get any points for white-knighting RocketTheme here believe me. If I thought you were right, or even had a point, I'd agree with you. You aren't and you don't.

You are frustrated, I get it. But your frustration is misdirected. The terms under which you bought a subscription are stated all over this site. If you didn't understand it, or you don't like it but bought it anyway, fine, but it doesn't change the facts, which are, you bought a subscription, and when it's up, it's up. It seems very simple to me.

Again, if you would like a different pricing model by all means start that discussion but don't expect to get a lot of sympathy for buying in to something where it's clearly defined what you are buying in to and then complain how unfair it is.

    • DEVs pay more because they want unlimited entitlements.

IMHO, DEVs pay the price because they are honest about their entitlement use, and want the freedom to develop as many sites as they wish without having to worry about purchasing additional entitlements as they go along.

Helping others is entirely on a volunteer basis. If all you want is to use the templates, so be it. If you want to help other it's appreciated. Sorry to say, it's not taken into consideration as far as your subscription / membership is concerned... Whether you decide to help or not is entirely up to you.

RocketTheme.com is more than fair. (That is not an opinion - simply look at the facts and you will see.)

Your subscription ended? I've never heard of such a thing. You mean subscriptions end? WOW! I am going to have to make note of that. That is a bummer! No wonder the magazines I ordered as a kid stopped coming. I've been checking the mail box for over 20 years hoping my Mad Magazine issues would be there...along with OMNI (they went out of business - so sad. Of course, funny now that I think about it - they need money to stay in business. Imagine that - a company that has to make money to stay in business and to be able to give great support. Hmm, who would of thunk!).

Wow - thanks for the tip. I guess I will just have to renew my subscription. I wish you luck on yours!

      Peace Out,
      Wingman

    • BBGood,

You got what you paid for. You didn't read and understand the Terms & Conditions before you purchased now you are complaining you are not getting what YOU think you should get? Instead of looking at your glass as half full why not realize the value of what you did get?

I have a Developer label under my name because I paid for it not because I work for RocketTheme. I renewed my Developer membership this year. I was hesitant to renew again at the Developer level because I don't think I will use many new templates this year (in addition to the ones I paid for under my previous membership) but I didn't want to have to keep up with what templates I used under my previous membership & what additional templates I will be using this year but the main reason I decided to go ahead & renew under the Developer level is because I wanted to show my support as RocketTheme memberships are a bargain at all their levels!

I think you need to go back & read the Terms & Conditions that you didn't read a year ago think about what you got out of your membership & then come back here & apologize.

I'm totally pissed, too. The extended warranty on my SUV ran out a year ago and the guy down at the garage won't tell me how to replace the front tie-rod ends. Bastards.

I bet you are mad, because as I recall you only bought the warranty because you were worried about the tie-rods breaking and now here you are! You only wanted it for that one part and now your subscription is up and you can't get it fixed. You got screwed.

    • Apologize? For what? Your out of your mind. I said it how I see it and I have no intention of changing for the pleasure of another.

I have asked on one template and one template only in this since the join, maybe a random comment and or suggestion to others. And yet many of the issues went un-responded too or responded to in a manner that was not a solution having me and many others flip back and forth between virtuemart and rt like a hot potato. Then RT does a flip and drops anything towards what looked a like a good relationship and comes out with their own e-store template combo.

Wow, that alone left me looking like the confidence level on my side was dropping and having nightmarish head banging snags in a very touchy template to find out that the one source of any technical resource cut off.

Boys, that's like driving a brand new car and the dealer takes the manual, jack and spare tire away from you and you just got a short on the open road, hit a pothole and there isn't a fly around to help you.

Whoa, any company that would look to clean routes of migration as newer technology develops for the better as part of any future growth plan and to see changes in direction from a source as stated above, well, that ends up being taken in consideration on many levels including votes of confidence.

I guess this is the pitfalls of open-source, and as they say, you get what you pay for including the very powerful phrase, that nothing is ever free.

I could have like many others just dropped the name of RT on a torrent and got what I needed for free, but no, I came here for one issue only and one template only. Did I read the fine print, nope, you got me there, but how many of you read fine print anywhere.

      Enough said!

Wow - the web was written free code. I mean the guy who created the World Wide Web (AKA WWW) made the software free for everyone to use. Pretty powerful stuff that free software thingy. Don't you think? I mean look how much the world has changed because of it. But if you say it is crap well then - I, we, should listen to you. Not!

Um, judging by you skills even if you did steal it - you wouldn't know what to do with it and would be in the same boat your in now - Needing support.

At what point does one realize that one can't expect the neighbor to pay for the gas and come over and mow ones lawn, just because they, the neighbor, lent their lawn mover to them?

You just keep knocking open source while the world passes you by...we promise we won't be bothered in the least bit. Although it would be more fun if you just got with the program.

Man, I wish you the best...and I leave you with this...have a nice day. 8)
