Update from1.5.14 to 1.5.15 Error with XML setup file

Ok, I've seen this before. I tried to upload the update (1.5.14 to 1.5.15) and it came back with this error "Could not find an XML setup file in the package". Alright, so I've read to unpack the zip file and upload all those files to the server independently. I tried this once on my old site, and lost everything. I'm sure I did something wrong. However, is there a specific way to upload those independent files to your server so as the whole process goes smooth ? By the way I already did a backup of my site already with Joomlapack.

okAy, If i am right you are trying to Update Joomla using Extemsions > Install/Uninstall?

It should be pretty easy if after you backup you site, you just FTP the update package....
What I usually do is upload the zipped update package, extract it to a folder, then copy the contents to the joomla directory, i.e., the root directory or the folder in which Joomla resides. - Thanks,
