problem with sidebar spacing

  • problem with sidebar spacing

    • Ok, I don't know what happened really but..I now have an issue with my left sidebar. There is this little gap before it, and I don't know how it happened. It was fine a few days ago, then I setup my main menu. I had the sidebars setup at 150px width, unfortunately, some of my menu items were too long for that. It made the sidebar look horrible, knocking it all out of proportion. I increased the size of my sidebar to 160px and that fixed the sizing for the menu, however it made this little whitespace gap on the left side. At first I thought maybe I needed to increase the width on the image i'm using as the background for the bar, so I increased that to 160px, but the gap is still there. Here is a screenshot, any help is greatly appreciated!

      Thanks,
      David Henderson

    • Did you change the margin setting?

    • No, I didn't change the margins. I will have to check the image, I didn't make them. Get back to you with an answer about the image:)

Edit: Nope, both the left and the right image are the same, just mirror images of each other. There is no whitespace on either. Also, I don't have this problem on the right side, just the left. If you notice though, I have bars on both sides, and then I also have a topping bar on each side, because of the bevilled effects I have, it was needed to not make a choppy change between the bar and the whitespce. Anyways, what I was getting at was that the top bar image does not have the problem, it goes all the way to the left, however, both are set to 0px, but the main bar seems to have like a 5px margin or something.

    • i think it is your menu system or something else module wise

      cleanmywater.biz/?tp=2

that looks fine, so it's not a problem with template css or images

    • Ah, thank you. NEver even thought to try looking at it without the menu module in. I'll have to try unpublishing the menu and see what happens, if that fixes it then I will figure out what in the menu is doing it:) Thank you BZ:)

    • Well now I have a new problem, I came home today...loaded my page, and BAM the eniter right bar is missing. If I look at the template preview, it's there, but on the live site...the middle content area is wider, stretching all the way to the end of the right side and the right bar is just not there. Any ideas why?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer on this,

    • Ok, I feel dumb..I had deleted the only module that was in that sidebar, so it was collapsed. But now I have a REALLY big PROBLEM!!! The page is just completely messed up now! For some reason the page is insanely wide now. I added a module to the right sidebar...and the sidebar showed up and the site looked fine. Then I reduced the spacing on the left side of the logo. Changed it from 24px to 10px, when I hit refresh the page just went WHACKY!

edit: Disregard. I was trying to see if my earlier problem was because the sidebar was too far off the right of the screen. So I changed the width of the template to 855px to see if that was the probem, but I forgot to replace the % sign I had from it being 100% with a px, so it was set to 855%!lol
