How do I make a right column thinner -- still unresolved

    • Hi,

I'm trying to make the right column thinner for one page only, not for all right columns. I got one person's opinion and it didn't work, and this is really a logjam in my site. I must get past it. Need your help.

I just need this one right column to be maybe 125 px instead of the 250 0r 300 px it is now.

      The last advice was this:
      .new #rightcol {width: 200px;}

Then go to your menu item:

Menus > Main Menu > Your item > Parameters - system

and type new into the page class suffix box. Adjust the pixels for the width a bit.

It was good to squeeze down the contents of the right-column module, but not the module itself. It is still too wide. (see attached image)

If you have another idea, can you please tell me a certain code and where to place it?

      Thanks

    • A link to the site would help so we could take a look

    • You could always make a copy of your template, assign the copy to the respective page, then simply change the column width in the backend parameters. ;)

      Hi Terp,

      Sorry, but I'm a noob.

I duped the template but need two pieces of info:

      1. What's the process for assigning, what to do and where?
      2. What would the code look like and what template is edited?

      Thanks for the help.

    • Which template are you using? I haven't played with many of the latest templates, but most have a backend parameter to assign the column widths. If the template you are using doesn't, we can always use CSS, but you would:

1.) Copy your template directory (e.g., rt_reaction_j15) and rename it to, say, 'thin' or whatever. :)
2.) Go into your Joomla backend: extensions -> template manager -> click on 'template name' of the copy.
3.) In the lower-lefthand side, you'll see some params for 'Menu Assignment.' Simply assign the copy to the respective page, then change the column/sidebar width.

If you don't see a param for the width, post a link to the page in questions and we'll give you the css to make it happen. ;)

    • Whoops, just read your original post again. You used a page class suffix to change the column width and now trying to only reduce the width of a module now?

Yea, we just need a link and can help out with that one...
