    branding

Posted 15 years 5 months ago
    • Hats of to you, you lot design some very nice templates and wherever possible i recommend this site, however as im using one of the templates on my works website i dont want competitors to figure out where and how im getting my template.

Does Joomla allow the renaming of the template folder for a chosen template and if so does this create any major problems with other fuctions of a joomla site, i only want to rename it to something relating to our site, leaving all credits in the xml to joomla, just the name of the folder etc, i want it so when people to a view source the css paths to a folder matching the website name etc

      Thanks

      Rob

    • Hi,
I just read the copyright statement and it wasn't totally clear regarding the renaming of the template.

Does this sentence mean you cannot change the template folder name?

******DO NOT copy or adapt the HTML or other code that RocketTheme creates to generate pages. It also is covered by RocketTheme's copyright.******

      ??
      Thank you for your assistance

    • To the best of my knowledge, and please correct me if I am wrong, it is fine to rename the template/ folder.

This would involve copying the template, editing the template name in the templateDetails.xml, zip the files and install as you would any other template.

      Cheers

    • This link will help Dean. (although not exactly on your topic)

      Duplicating Your Template:

Creating a different style or color scheme for each Menu or Section is a popular request.

Using the Template Manager, this can be done quite easily by duplicating the template and assigning Menu items to each version.

      1. Download your template.
      2. Copy the directory locally
      3. Rename the folder
      4. In the copied template folder, open templateDetails.xml
      5. Edit the names to reflect the new folder name
      6. Upload the directory to your /templates folder
      7. Log into the Joomla Administrator at www.yoursite.com
      8. Go to Site > Template Manager > Site Templates
      9. Find your copy and select the circular icon to the left
      10. Now select Assign
      11. Choose your menu item

(Thanks to Yves on this one! :cheesy: )

      Cheers
