Rocketlauncher site not working

    • Hi,

So Im on GoDaddy, I have an install of joomla from their applications installer and installed the template all is well, but no sample data
So I manually created a DB, and installed Mynxx via rocketlauncher, now I have an issue whereby if I do a write to the db (as in I save anything settings) then the host goes down, as in all other sub domains and domains on this account go down also, I can login to mysql at this time. After say 6 minutes the site comes back up again on its own. This only happens with rocket launcher and i have had it happen on more than one RT template.
Can anyone shed some light on this or tell me how I can install the sample data without rocketlauncher?
I have tried importing the sampledata.sql and it says it was sucessful however looking at the tables the sample data is not there

      Thanks

    • Scott,

I host all my sites with godaddy; this is how I got around it and my sites are working with zero issue. Follow these steps in order... (Im not using filezilla or any FTP upload)

      1) Install Joomla using godaddys quick install to whatever domain name you choose.

***Important*** When the install asks you if you want to write this to the direct root of the url or a subfolder such as www.scottboarder.com/joomla .... make sure you install joomla with www.scottboarder.com/joomla (or whatever you want to name the sub folder)... Also, don't worry, the end result...your URL will be just www.scottboarder.com not scottboarder.com/joomla

2)Once the mysql and joomla install is all good.... Go to file manager, choose the url / domain roote and install upload the RocketLauncher package.... No need to unzip or extract the files previously...just upload it as the full zipped file.

3)Once it uploads....Then "unarchive" the Rocket Launcher Package

4)Go to www.scottboarder.com/administrator (also open up a secondary page of godaddys "hosting center" and open Databases Mysql....select the database / domain name you are setting up and select "view edit details).... Back to your site now... Just walk thru the set up process and fill in the database info....

If you want to use an FTP upload...then fill that info in... but you dont have to...

Another thing...make sure to install the "sample data" this is important for the Rocket Launcher package to work...

At the very end you get this RED warning deal... Now just go to file manager and delete the sub folder / file ...... /joomla or what ever you named it...also delete the installation file....

Your done dude.... If you have any questions just hit me up... This has worked with no issues or problems for me and saved me a ton of time.

      Hope this helped

      Brian

    • Scott,

One other thing, Your "user login name" for your joomla site administrator area will be changed to "admin" but your password remains the same.. Not sure why this happens, didn't really care... Just went to Joomla Admin backend and changed it back to the user name I wanted.

    • This was an excellent guide for Rocket Launcer, thanks.

For those using GoDaddy, the hostname wasn't localhost for me. (Using Grid Hosting) The name was provided in Hosting Control center.

    • Another side note****

I read thru the above quickly... I might have mentioned this... if I had, my bad, just trying to help... I didn't see it in my current buzzed quick browse riden state that I am in....

After going thru this process... If you try to access your admin panel with your "username" and it doesn't work..... This process reverts your user name back to "admin" on your administration page.... no stress though, your password is still set... username will be "admin" though and your password is still the same. Go to your admin panel...then to users....select yourself and change your aministration name from "admin" to whatever your original was or whatever you want.....

Just a suggestion. When you go thru this process.... dont F*** around, when all is done or the process is done: example: unarchived and so on; there is a small window of vulnerability where your site is vulnerable (but only to experienced (j)ackers). Don't be all paranoid like I am though, you still need your DB name, Host name etc...... So if you lag for a few minutes to grab a beer, not a bear, or pet a racoon you are all good. Don't lag to long though.

    • I moved all my sites from godaddy to mediatemple and did not get any issue with rocketlauncher, must be something up with godaddys server configs.
