    Forum vs Blog

Posted 15 years 4 months ago
    • Would like some input here - I have been asked to put a forum and a blog on a website. It took me some time to figure why both... okay that resolved... now for the work of setting up. I found a fairly decent component for a forum through Agora... as I plug through the component options for a blog I am disappointed by what is out there.... with the exception of the wordPress Component. Okay wonderful, if you want to pay for what should be an OpenSource solution. No dig there, Im sure what they are offering is wonderful...

Here is my quandry, I can't help but shake my head with the thought that Joomla in my opinion was created to be a solution for blogging all on it's own... maybe my bad interpretation, but I cant help but think there has to be a way to use existing rockettheme and joomla components to create a blog without all these third party installs.

I see rockettheme has RokComments- that seems to solve one set of feature needs for a blog...Im curious on anyone else's thoughts on this... how to manipulate the joomla and rockettheme components/modules to enable a blog without using a 3rd party component... I hope this makes sense... appreciate any feedback! Somewhat a newbie to Joomla and Rockettheme so these things can keep me on a hamster wheel for some time...metaphorically speaking of course!
