:cheesy: I know this is a bit early to expect any news, though I thought I would post about the new Joomla 1.6 that is currently in alpha testing. Yet, since I am currently making those fun backups and have a bit of time, I thought I would post up some info and see what others think.
I have been following the blogs and posts about 1.6 and am actually quite excited. There seems to be a lot of changes coming down the line. I think this will make some things a lot more simple for people that build/support larger sites.
Aspects of the new ACL as well as the the new Link Redirection seem like they will be very helpful!
I think I am looking forwards most of all is the new ACL itself. Being able ot create custom user groups as well as content restrictions/permissions seem the most useful.
Only down side will be the need for updated 3rd party components and plugins. Those of us that use any will need to make sure they are updated for j1.6 once that is released if they want to migrate/update their sites to 1.6.
Thanks for sharing Sarrene. I agree, the 1.6 Joomla! updates sound most promising. As always, updates are a little bit of a pain, and even scary. A necessary evil towards progress I guess... fingers crossed it won't be too painful.
