Need to dump opt-in page I generated...need advice.

  • Need to dump opt-in page I generated...need advice.

    • Hi,

A few days ago I accepted an offer to install a program called EasySqueezePro, that would supposedly allow me to generate an attractive opt-in page and was compatible with Joomla. Well, it did...BUT...

I was only testing it and did not want it to be permanent, and now I don't know how to get out of it and restore my normal home page.

I can identify most, if not all of the files used by this product, and could delete them — but I'm not sure what problems that would cause. The product's support staff has not responded in four days since I requested help, so I don't know what's happening there. I just need some advice with this.

I realize that I'm not providing a lot of info here, but I'm not sure exactly what is needed at this point. My site is offline. Please let me know what you need to know in order to provide assistance.

      Thanks.

    • I didnt find anything on easysqueeze about joomla compatability. Can you not just delete the files and folders for this "easysqueeze" and move on? There is no database connection to Joomla so I dont see what harm deleting would do.

As far as I know, a "Squeeze" page is just a landing page to get you to email subscibe or to collect some information. Not sure why you would use another program to create something that you can do in Joomla.

Maybe I am missing something about this easysqueeze's functionality so forgive my ignorance if there is something special about this software.

    • It's a nice little app that allows fast customization into anything you want it to be. I like that part of it. However, I don't know what to delete.

If I delete all of the files and then also index.php, that will cripple the site — right?

I don't know what using this thing has rewritten, etc.

      Thanks.

    • Okay, the support guys finally responded:

"Sounds like you have uploaded all the files into your root folder overwritten your index.php rather than place the squeeze files into a self-contained folder. Therefore, you need to get back an original copy of the index.php file for your blog."

Interestingly enough, it was their suggestion to load it up in the root folder in the first place.

Okay, here's my problem. The hosting company — without any notice — had stopped doing backups of my files because they said I was using too much space (I'm not). Thus, I do not have an original copy of the index.php file.

There has been a fair amount of tweaking to the template's home page. Have I lost all those tweaks and improvements?

Is there a way out of this mess? The rest of the site is okay, it's just the home page I need to get this opt-in form off of, and resurrect.

      Hope you can help.

      Thanks.

    • Woo-Hoo! The host support put in the fix, making a new index.php file. Back to normal.
