The best way to create a template?

    • Okay, so now i want to get started with making templates...
My question is: in what order do you make them?
      I was thinking:

Start with drawing the template in fireworks, cut it in slices.
Then in Dreamweaver put the module positions in(i use mamboOS extension)
      Add the css.

Could someone correct me if i'm wrong?

      Grtz Alex

    • Yep, do the complete design in Fireworks then implement all your slices.

Then start coding (probably easiest by hand) - I tend to write the index.php and CSS file side-by-side, doing each element of the template as you go, starting at the top.

One trick I use when building a new template is to colour DIV elements with a bold background colour so you can see the positioning and size easier.
