    Thinking of using phpbb3 with my rocket theme

    • Hello all,

      I am in the process of setting up a gaming site for my clan using Joomla cms and the dominion rocket theme :)

      We do have a current site which runs on vBulletin (newly upgraded to v4), but it just doesn't cut it as a clan style website. We don't have much data on the vBulletin forum, so im not even going to bother trying to port the data.

      I have been trying out many of the forum extensions, but to be honest, I dont really like them compared to the full phpbb3 forums.

      From what ive read, I can use the rocket-bridge to sync the two systems and seeing as we are starting from fresh, that should be fairly easy I hope.

      My question is more to do with how joomla/rocket theme interact and hook up with the phpbb forum. Does the forum need to be wrapped somehow so it sits neatly below the theme header?

      Ive noticed that this forum here is phpbb3 and seems to have stuff like the usercp hidden. Is that also something I need to take into account?

      Any help and guidance on this would be appreciated. I will continue searching these forums, but there are 55 pages of hits to search through lol. :shock:

      2. I feel JomSocial is rather redundant when you have a forum. Maybe you can find phpbb3 mods that accomplishes what you need...

    • Bugger it, im not a member of the phpbb3 thing yet, just joomla templates.

      I have managed to create a bridge between joomla and phpbb3 and it seems to work ok. I am currently using the new dominion rocket theme.

      I see from looking at the phpbb3 demo's that most of them so far are skins to match the rocket joomla templates.

      Will there be one created to match the dominion rocket theme? If so, I will obviously purchase it :)
