Integrity Of The Back Ups Made By JoomlaPack

Posted 15 years 3 months ago
    • I was wondering has anybody tested the integrity of a site that has been uploaded with Joomla Pack?
¿To make it clear how reliable is to create back ups with those softwares out there?
¿Do they really get the job done without any bugs on the files or site or whatever i'm missing?
Because i was wanting to create something like a standar site with all of my preferences loaded so that i can use it in most of the sites in the future.
I,m a perfectionist and i would like to know for sure that those back ups are identical to the cloned site.

Excuse my english... I suppose some one out there has cheked if the sites remain identical.

    • Retired, but build and run websites for organisations of school leaders and others - e.g. http://www.icponline.org, http://www.aspa.asn.au, http://www.appa.asn.au

    • I have used JoomlaPack to transfer 6 sites from one server to another and from a subdomain to a full domain in another folder, and it has worked first time every time, except once when it was my fault (did not have enough free space on the new server). The combination of JoomlaPack to do the backup and the kickstart.php file to set up the website and database on the new server was just so easy.

I was terrified before I pressed the Go button, as I do not have many technical skills in computers at all. But I followed the instructions exactly, and it worked for me! :D No problems with the sites after the shift - the people who use the sites report that they could not tell any difference after the move.

So I'm now a convert to JoomlaPack. I have not used it to move my large (1 to 3Gb) sites yet. All these 6 sites were less than 500Mb.

    • I discover one problem today i cloned my mynxx site yesterday and put it on another URL but maintaining my old site...
When i tried to acces my virtue mart module inside the administration area y redirected me to my old site (old URL).
If i delete something on my old site from virtue mart it disapears on the other site.
I'm obiusly using different data bases.
      Any Clue?

    • I don't use Virtue Mart, so i don't know how to solve that problem. It appears that the url in the catalogue is referencing the old site. Maybe that is a question for the Virtue Mart forum. I'm sure that they will have an answer. Sorry.

    • Search the Mynxx forum for joomlapack, I think there may be some changes you have to make.
    • Thanks,
