    Wordpress and Joomla

Posted 15 years 3 months ago
    • I'm thinking of changing the news section of my site to wordpress, but keeping joomla as the core site (ie information and all the other jazz)

The only thing I really need is some way that I can have everything synchronized - what I mean by that is my menus. Is there any component that I can use to sync the menus from joomla into wordpress so that if I use 2 templates that look alike, that there menus are the same - so that everything is seamless through the site even though im using 2 different cms's?

    • There isn't really any need to use both cms's. If your site is just going to be a news site and some static content then use wordpress, if it is going to be more then the built in features of joomla is better to use, than adding a load of plugins to make wordpress work like joomla.

There are some simple plugins like can be installed into joomla to make it more like a blog, such as tags and jcomments or rokcomments and don't require any additional purchasing.

If you were to do both cms's you would need to use page to link plugin to manually replicate the joomla menu in wordpress. But it is too much effort I think to maintain such a linkup when you can do it easily just in joomla.

    • I already use joomla ... since early 2007, but I find when it comes to teaching new people how to use the site, its way to complex. I want something simple, which allow staff to login and do appropriate modifications. As for a little, trust me my site exceeds 5000 pages in joomla ... news and content (news +-4500) - so I feel I will get more power by using wordpress, since it has a much easier interface.

But thanks, that idea for the rendering on a separate page is awesome ... I will try that!
