Hello,
I have been around and around researching different theme designers, and I have come to the conclusion that RocketTheme has the best framework. But my problem is, I need a more "clean" theme. It seems that RocketThemes often contain more styling than I want. Other designers offer cleaner themes, but their framework is not as good.
You see my dilemma!
Is RocketTheme planning on releasing a simpler, cleaner theme?
Or perhaps someone can tell me how difficult it would be to modify an existing RocketTheme to look the way I need it to look?
Iridium may suit your needs imo. Check out the different preset. I believe its the second one. Have a look at it again?

Hey,
Very interesting...your new "Kinetic" theme may just do the trick!
So funny, because I have been going round and round looking at so many different templates. The timing of my question with the release of "Kinetic" seems almost perfect.
I was exactly the same way Matthew. When I saw the new "Kinetic" theme I knew I wanted to have it.
What I would like to know is if I currently have a site installed with a yootheme template - how much work will it be to use one from RT? I'm relatively new at Joomla so I was wondering what will change besides the module positions and so forth?
Mark,
Every template designer has a different approach to things. I'm not a coder by any means, but I have tried out a dizzying number of templates from several designers -- RocketTheme, YooTheme, Joomlajunkie, Gavick, YouJoomla, Joomlart, and a couple of others I cannot recall at the moment.
When you switch to a new designer, you will have different module positions for sure. There will also be different typography (probably), and each designer may install particular plugins to go with the theme. Sometimes, these things are different even within the same designer (although I think the framework concept should reduce that problem).
Some plugins are specific to a template and may not work when you switch. For example, YooTheme, Gavick, and RocketTheme all have drop-caps capabilities in their typography, but the code used to assign drop-caps is different for each designer. So if you have a YooTheme site and you're using drop-caps, and then you install a RocketTheme template, your drop-caps will not work. You'll have to rework the articles to add the drop caps using RocketTheme's particular crop-cap code. That's just one example.
For the most part, however, things like your article text and your menu structure should be intact as you move from one designer to another.
Just post again if you need help! We're all in this together.
