    • Like I said earlier, I don't have any editing tools to do that. That is why I said I would like to hire someone.

Tell me what you want on the logo and I'll whip one up. Otherwise, free trial version of Fireworks:
      www.adobe.com/products/fireworks/

      Cheers!

    • Well it only took me 4 hours but I did it.

For anyone else who has this trouble. I used an online banner generator www.grsites.com and uploaded the logo background. I then went to webbild.com and converted the logo to a png and adjusted the size.

Thank you for the offer Ronald, I wish I had seen it earlier.

    • I know pngs are native to Fireworks. And here is my complaint yet again. Speaking for myself, I do not want to either buy a new image editing program after spending $ on Photoshop nor download a "trial" version of Fireworks everytime I want to change a logo. I sure wish some one would create a source file that is native to both Adobe programs (layered and with slices). I am aware of quality but it sounds like we are getting a wee bit elitest. These Rocket templates are amazing and it is money well spent by me. But, I am neither a programer nor do I have the luxury of time to mess about with what works with this or that image program. Is there a comprimise?

macromedia fireworks is a program made perfectly for the job it is being used for. if you're that interested in doing serious modification, it's an investment you'll have to make..

photoshop doesn't do very well when it comes to png files.. and thats what these sites mainly consist of.

    • Photoshop is an image editing tool designed for print work. People use it for web work because they are used to it. Fireworks is designed for web design period, it's a better tool for the job. Unfortunately as of Photoshops CS2 and Fireworks 8 there is no easy way to take a fireworks file and export it to Photoshop and keep the layers and slices. Hopefully this will improve with CS3. The situation right now is that our tool of choice is fireworks, we could not create the templates we do with the same quality, flexibility, and customizability with photoshop.

Believe it or not I agree with you 100% and I understand why PS has been "X-ed" out. Fireworks has shown to branch out beyond the print media, but this propriety demand reminds me of the "browser wars" when Microsoft gave the finger to open source and demanded everyone play along with them. Today we are still feeling their arrogance when we code for 3 different browsers. I will muddle by with what image program I have. I suppose if I were a commercial site there would be no discussion, I would just fork over the money for a new program to go along with a new template. But, alas, I am just a teacher who does websites for fun on the side. And now that Adobe has eaten Macromedia, no longer is there a viable competition to choose from. As for visual quality, I believe only purists would notice the difference.
