Can a blog be inserted into the front page?

- Is it possible to have a "normal" front page with links and content at the top and then have a blog that starts in the middle? If this is possible does anyone have an example?

- Can't you just publish the pages from your blog to the home page....not seeing what your asking to do?

Use a Frontpage Blog, Section Blog, or Category Blog Menu for your Home page.
The contents of any one of these Menus will be published to the Mainbody of the template.
Any Article published to the Frontpage will be displayed there, of any Articles from the Section or Category you create and save your Articles to.
In each of the menu items, you can set the Leading Article, Columns, how many Articles will be displayed when the page loads, show links to other Articles, publishing order etc.
Depending on the template this will be somewhere down the page based on how many Modules you have published above the Mainbody section. - Thanks,

Richard, sorry you didn't understand. I'm not sure I understand. lol! I just have someone that may be interested in some web sites for book authors, but they want to have a blog embeded into the front page. They actually want to be able to update it by cell phone and I've never heard of that except Facebook and Twitter.
JEM, thanks for the reply. Is there a dummies guide to understand what a section blog or category blog menu is?
I wish I could see it and have it explained. I am just clueless. I guess I will try to fool around with a template on my localhost and see what happens.

I had already read your tutorial before and will probably re-read it several more times. Thanks!
I have still been looking at this blog thing when I've had time. I found today that i can make a "wrapper" module and insert it in the home page with the URL to a Blogger site and it seems to work fine. That way you could post to your Blog with your phone and it would show up on Joomla home page. i would just have to work out the sizes from both sites and the position.
Wouldn't this work OK?
It would be nice if you could add posts to a blog article in Joomla from the front end instead of just being able to edit what is already there. But that still wouldn't answer the phone thing.
