Andy you are like einstein here for this cahing jazz. I love that write up you did and even an idiot like myself was interested enough to read the entire post, as it seems to have been written for the layman. Heck, I think I even understood part of it.
Commerce Site with Metropolis magento 1.7- Wood Signs
Thanks so much Andy. So thankful for this information. It should really come bundled with the template downloads.
Its still a tad confusing though, but at least we have a better idea of what to turn on, tune in or drop out.
Once question thats always there and never answered though,
I have never understood why Joomla template purveyors tend to lump dozens of css files with each template.
I thought i was about to get the answer in this line, but alas
----
Because we split out our CSS into multiple files in order to ensure we only send the data a user needs, we end up with quite a few CSS files, so combining and gzipping them is a helpful technique.
----
If css files are split in order to ensure only the needed data is sent, whats the point in then combining them and sending the whole bunch out again?
Doesn´t it negate the original purpose of splitting them so that surplus info is not sent?
Not wanting to nitpick but since i do major .css edits on my templates im never sure whether to lump all the css into one file or not.
