rt_login error (semi-solved)

  • rt_login error (semi-solved)

    • When my users try to sign in, they get a "Cookies Must Be Enabled" message, but they already have cookies enabled. If they try to log in again immediately, it works.

I've posted in the joomla.org forum, but not much on an answer, so I thought I'd ping the collective knowledge of the RT fans.

      Anyone run into this?

    • I experienced a similar problem at college....but it was only a temporary glitch ???

How many times has he tried it?

    • He mentioned it a couple of weeks ago, but we've been busy with our tournament so it fell by the wayside. Now that the tourney's over, I need to revisit it to get it fixed.

Do you have the same problem?

Appears to be a Firefox issue ???

Edit...I retried it with FF again and it worked...must have been a temporary glitch....how odd ???

I am not sure what is causing the error though ???

    • Weird.

I am (pretty) sure I tried it on IE at home, but then again, I was sleepy and it was way past my bedtime.

That's odd that it's not popping up the error in IE (usually it's IE that bites rabid wallaby butt)

    • Ok... I'm not going crazy. Someone else got the error w/ IE7

    • I will try it with IE6 tomorrow but i do not think it is a browser thing....

    • I got the same error using the fox just now. First log in attempt threw me the error. Second no pop up.
      3rd time was a charm.
Perhaps there is a randomn error with the rt login form not passing session cookie variable on....? just grabbing at straws here. Very weird weirdness. As you can see from the posted code it has set 3 cookies.....

Let's see what happens in the browser known as internet exploder6.....same error "cookies must be enabled"...... first attempt. Everything working ok second attempt.
I think you can surely rule out a browser issue.

Maybe you could try stock login form as a test later (middle of the night when nobody is on there?)
To test and see if it is a log in form issue......

One other dumb question. It does not appear that you are using any form of SEF URLs on there or mod_rewrite.
One thing that occurred to me was the mos_config/live site thing that I have seen happen from time to time where your site is either configured for sitename.com VS http://www.sitename.com  Very wierd problem indeed...........
    • Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

    • Hmmm.. interesting. Maybe it IS the rt_login that's kicking the error. I'll have to look into that this weekend.

      Thanks for the suggestions!
