database crash

    • One of my sites, cibaride.org, had some database problems. The isp was able to fix some of it, and I managed to really screw it up by importing a db from the old joomla 1.0 site. I had used phpmyadmin to make a copy, but the isp says that won't work on their servers. I'm at the point where I need to redo the whole thing. The files, images, pdf, some excel spreadsheets, etc is still there. If I create a new db and install joomla and the template (solarsentinal), will that save the data? During the installation of joomla, should I run the script from joomla 1.0 to update the db. Or do I really start over.
      Thanks, Tom

    • From what you say, it appears a clean install is needed. You have a couple of options.

      (1) Set up an entirely new database and do a clean install of Joomla, then import your old 1.0 data. Following that, install the RT template of your choice.

      (2) Use the TerranTribune RocketLauncher, then import your old data.

I have done (and prefer) Option 2. In either case, the process is painful, but necessary as the Joomla 1.0 and 1.5 DB formats differ.

Also, I have to winder what kind of web host you have that doe not support DB copying from phpMyAdmin.

      All the best,

    • I'm curious. Why the TerranTribune rocket launcher?
      Thanks for your help.
