    • I guess I am the only one here that can't install joomla. I haven't even made it past the pre-install checklist.

I have a new server(Opensuse11.2, MySQL 5.1.45, PHP5) eveything is setup and running, database for joomla is made, users are created, permissions set. The pre-installation page states I have no MySQL support. When I clck next and setup the MySql and database connection. It says it cannot connect.

Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available.

Now to back up a second, prior to setting it up on this server i set it up on my home machine and it connected right up to the very same database. But it is a WIN7 system running the xampp server setup. I know that is different setup then the LAMP. But how do I fix the issue of the MySQL adaptor and get this thing to recognize that MySQL is setup and running?

Can someone help me please to make Joomla work on my server?

    • While waiting for a response here, google for 'Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available'

Tons of hits, seems like there are solutions, too.

Don't know which applies to you.

    • There is not even a php_mysql.dll file even on the server that I can find, let alone any extensions at all even stated in the php.ini file. This is a LAMP server, not a windows system, so there is no dll files period. MySQL was installed using the zypper on the apache2 server directly.

      Still not getting anywhere here.

    • Sorry I can't help you here.

Since you can't get past the initial installation stage, it really seems to be related to your server setup and not Joomla or the template itself.

Someone may have the answer here, but in the meantime, I suggest seeking support elsewhere.
