Handling of Post Comments

    • I took something for granted before I signed up: I assumed that if there were comments on a post, you'd be able to see how many, and that clicking on the number would take you to the comments. This is basic functionality I've found in every other WP template I've ever downloaded -- free or paid.

      Yet, I've tried 3 RT themes so far (Infuse, Affinity, Refraction) and none of them work this way. Infuse doesn't even list comments/tags on the blog entries. Honestly, I'm dumbfounded as to how these themes could be released without this basic functionality. Perhaps I'm just missing something? (Please, tell me if I am!)

      (Also, this functionality was not easy to spot on the demos because none of the sample entries have any comments.)

      I love the RT themes -- they're absolutely gorgeous and I really want to use them. I like this community, the business model, and the site. I'm really hoping you'll tell me there's an easy fix to this issue, or that all themes going forward will have this basic comment (and tag) functionality for posts.

      Thanks for listening,
      Jenn

    • I'm talking about the WordPress templates, not the Joomla ones. I don't see Reaction as a template, so I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing...?

    • Sorry about that, the comment I posted was Joomla, not WP related.

      And you're right, there is no WP Reaction theme at this point.
    • Thanks,

    • Hi Jenn,

      The comments number your'e talking about is depending only on a user preference and it can be displayed in various ways (ie. in nexus it's an comment icon which tells you how many comments there are after hovering it). It's a very easy to add thing - just 1 line of code :
      <?php comments_number(_r('No Comments'), _r('1 Comment'), _r('% Comments')); ?>
      That's one of the cases the support forums exist.

      If you need any help with placing it in your theme please create a topic in your WordPress Theme forums and we will be more than happy to help you add it.

      Jakub
