Joomla editor not saving HTML in Windows 7

    • I've a client that has been using Mogul Mania rocket theme for over a year. They don't use a WYSIWYG editor, but use the "no editor" option. Just yesterday she was given a new workstation, HP with Windows7. She can not save any HTML edits to her page. All HTML code is stripped, but the text has been saved.

      I would appreciate any recommendations.

      Thank you,
      JB

    • I've been inundated with sudden issues from my end-user and so never came back to this post. For some stranger reason, I wasn't notified by email that there had been another thread. So I'm very sorry to have neglected your response.

I agree, the issue has nothing to do with Windows 7.

I've blacklisted the article manager, but the end-user is still complaining that she cannot save any articles that have previous img tags or newly placed img tags. The end-user notes that she can save pages with p or a tags.

Another issue occurs at times. The end-user makes an update to a page, the page goes out with either a save or apply action, the hourglass spins, and only a blank white page is returned, after much time, with the index.php suffix address. This appears to happen when we attempt to whitelist the article manager. So, we have the parameter set to blacklist, as noted.

I've been working with my hosting company (which have patiently tried everything). Since the site is on a shared server, I don't have control over the php.ini file. But the host has made a few changes to the config file and created an ini_set to manage server behavior.

When the end-user has either of the above issues, I cannot always replicate the problem. Either can the host. But, I have been able to replicate the problem enough times to know that it isn't just the end-user. The end-user is in Louisana, USA, I am in NY, USA and the host is in Arizona, USA. Both the end-user and the hosting company use Cox as an ISP.

Currently running Joomla 1.5.8 on a PHPv5 server. I'm considering an upgrade to 1.5.17. Recommendations?

      Many thanks for your expertise,
      JB

    • Joi,

I'd do the upgrade from 1.5.8 first since there were a few security issues addressed in those upgrades.

Have you considered using rokpad as an editor to test and see of the problem exists? As RT states, it's better than "None".

      Cheers,

      Rich

    • Many thanks, Rich. I've been debating the upgrade from some time now. I appreciate your recommendations.
