    • Say (and believe me this is very possible for a wee irish lad) if I down load my first template and make a dogs ear of it by some mistake. Can I download the same templare again?
      Related to this, what template should I download first to experiment with and generally get a feel for things. I have the pervious version of Fireworks and Dreamwearver not the studio 8. I think my MX studio is 6? Are these good software places to start.

    • Yeah, I've had to redownload templates a few times myself because I really messed up a css file or one of the pngs. As far as starting out, its hard to say. Depends on what you want for your site. Your versions of Studio should be fine, I believe thats the same version I have and I've had only one problem with compatibility (Mobius template). As long as you're a bit familiar with slices, frames, and layers, you should be fine. Some template png files use different frames for the different color versions while some use layers. If you run into trouble, there's lots of help on these forums.

    • Thanks Mark for the help and info. Perhaps some more details will help you and others guide me to the best TP for my first solo website :) Pamela (my wife) and I adopted "Joshua" our son from a Baby Home in Thailand 4 years ago he is 6 now and we just love him to bits ;D We want to have a site that tells our story to encourage other to consider this journey as well. It will be fairly text intensive as we progress through our story (and what a story it is - loving couple childless for 22 years - and then a little bundle of grace enters our life!!!).

      I think the home page would be of a thai theme (I liked the Technopia TP) with perhaps a image rotators (not sure of the techy terms here) showing landscapes and thai people in costume dress etc.

      Photos can be a real encouragement as people contemplate adoption so we though of a slide-show on every page the one that is "flash" I think and opens up from a thumbnail to a large semi transparent full size. Each new page would chronicle the different stages. I think 6 - 8 pages/stages and the corresponding slideshow would add warmth and flesh out the narrative in real life images.

      There is lots more but don't want to go on too much ;).............thanks to all who reply

    • My wife and I use Subtletrooper for our site about our family http://www.gomezfamilyweb.com . I had integrated Rokslideshow really nicely, but it conflicted with some other javascript I was using so I'm not using it right now. That would be a nice touch to rotate your images with a description. I've used Mobius for our family site with good results (I mod them to fit each season, so I'll be starting a spring one soon). I look forward to seeing your site and if you need any help or advice, you know where to look.

      Dave on you PS: "Jim in Ecuador" it sure is an amazing story, encourging and yet humbling. I hear of Jim Elliot while at Bethlehem Baptist Mps for 12 weeks to spend time with John Piper.
