Currency doea not show cents / decimals

Hi,
For some reason I cannot get the store front to show decimals, cents etc.. In Dollar and Pound the price is rounded up or down??
Example : US$ 1.99 shows as 2 , not 2.00 or 1.99 just 2.
$2.10 shows also as 2. There is never a decimal point.
The backend virtuemart store is selected in net and gross with the decimal point and the 1.99 etc is acepted at that stage, it just never gets to the store front.??
The Store Informtion & Currency Display Style are all set with decimal point @ 2, so there should be no problem and when setting a price the decimal point shows 2 places, but this makes no difference to what is shown on the store front. The symbals also do not apply when selected and all I get are the abbreviations such as - GBP; instead of £, and USD instead of $. ?
Help would be greatly appreciated.
