I can't get ANY of the rocketheme templates to work!

  • I can't get ANY of the rocketheme templates to work!

    • I've downloaded the Crystalline template (and the free Quasar template) and uploaded them into Joomla. When I go to edit my template, the file's parameters are writeable. However, when I go to apply the template, the screen refreshes to unwriteable parameters. I read the forums, and I went into Cpanel and changed my params.ini file from 0555 to 0755. When I return to Joomla, the template is again writeable, until I try to save or apply the template.

Soooo, I contacted HostGator (my webhost) and asked them what was going on. They had 4 system administrators working on the issue, and no one could figure out what was going on. From their end the server looked fine, and they tried many of their old tricks (because this isn't a new issue) to see if they would work. Nothing work. They finally suggested a new install of the template. I uninstalled and reinstalled the template. Nothing changed.

Soooo. I took the extra step of deleting my entire database and starting with a new Joomla install. I installed Joomlas 1.5 and created a new database, and returned to Rockettheme to download the full bundle version of Crystalline with the Gantry framework and all. I installed the new bundle on to my newly created database. THE SAME RESULTS. At this point, I have given up on a solution to my problem I requested a refund, because I REALLY TRIED to make this work.

I love the templates, I see the flexibility and power of the Gantry Framework, and the customer service has been great. But, that's not assisting me in using the product I paid $300 for. I requested a refund that I really don't want to request because I LOVE THE PRODUCTS.

I'm on my last knee, begging for help. I really want to be a lifetime member of Rocketheme, but I feel like I wasted my money. No where on the site is there a warning about some of the issues that people have been running into with rockettheme templates. You can't access the forums until you've paid to find out there no solution to your problem. Is there a webhoster out there where rocketheme templates work great? The bottom line is I can't get any of the rocket theme templates to work, HOSTGATOR can't get the templates to work, and none of the solutions from ROCKETTHEME'S FORUMS have been able to offer a solution.

I'm begging. HELP, HELP, HELP, HELP!!!

This is really perplexing because we always suggest Host Gator as a hosting solution for Joomla.

Many of the moderators here use Host Gator and often recommend them because the templates work all the time every time.

(Before the templates are released, we do extensive testing on localhosts, Host Gator, Rochen, BlusHost, etc.)

As long as I have used Host Gator (and I'm sure it's the same for other moderators as well) I've never had a problem running an RT template.

One thing that I noticed; it seems that you are applying the template to an existing install, perhaps an install with the stock Joomla install or an install with Fantastico?

While this should work as well, for further troubleshooting you may want to try installing the template in a subfolder of your site using the Rocket Launcher and the Sample Data (with a new DB).

Also note, that you may want to try uploading the zipped Rocket Launcher package to your site and extract it to the sub folder you created as opposed to FTPing the files from your computer to your site.

If you can get a fresh RL install to work with the Sample Data in a sub folder, it may point us in the right direction.

    • I was able to get my templates to work. It just requires a change in permission everytime I want to save. Not the most efficient, but at least I get to use the templates. Thanks for responding as quick as you did.

    • Hello Shari !

This is not a template issue it call a bad hosting provider with the wrong permission
      set on your directory
      A solution
contact them ask if they use SUphp or fastCGI option
if they do ask them to turn it on for you and set your folder correctly.

This is why on irc I tell user if you are going to get hosting make sure they support one of those 2 option

    • Who would you recommend? I only signed up for the monthly plan while I look for a host better than Yahoo! Talking about restrictions! Don't get me started. Anybody is better than Yahoo when it comes to databases.

    • Quick question...how much do you pay monthly? For example for cheaper and good hosting you can choose Bluehost and if you want more options and want manage your own VPS there is Servint
