Why does Joomla do this?

  • Why does Joomla do this?

    • I have been using Joomla for a few years now and always have the following issue and figured I would post it out here for some comments.

I create a website and simply wish content articles to be placed on a separate page and not in the main body section. My reason is I loose valuable space on very good templates activating many great positions such as showcase, features etc. When I do this site visitors have to scroll off the fold to view the articles unless they are fortunate enough to have a 27 inch Imac.

What I have done to prevent this and nearly every customer I have likes it is to activate SEF urls and use sh404sef. When I do this the article displays on a separate page - exactly what I wish to achieve.

Now if I want to place modules say on the right hand or left hand side of the resulting article page I need to create a new module and place on the inactive position. This then allows you to have an article page with a right hand or left hand column with modules and is similar to say a CNN news site.

Am I missing something here and is anyone else finding this an issue?

      Comments appreciated - Mark
