    EuroThai - Zephyr

Posted 14 years 1 month ago
    • Hi all,

      Euro Thai
Just launched a new community site using the Zephyr Template. The site started out to be a community site for Thais living in Germany but suddenly grew to more than that. As my wife comes from Thailand she had pointed out to me that most Asian countries except for Thailand had some kind of community site where they could meet and discuss their problems and experiences. I Decided then to make it not only for Thais living in Germany but for the whole of Europe. Taking it a step further I decided to also make it an information center about Thailand.

The sites logo is a map of Thailand in the Thai national flags colors, surrounded by the stars of the European flag. It represents the Thais living inside of Europe.

The site also uses Joomfish with 3 languages (still doing some translations), K2, Mosets Tree, Kunena Forum, JomSocial, JEvents, FeedGator, Spielothek and Easy Blog for the members blogs section. All these components can be found on the JED.

      Custom work:
Well the hardest part of this site was setting up my custom K2. Not the template but I have fully integrated K2 with JomSocial. Posts and comments in K2 are shown in the JomSocial activity stream and authors information and avatars in K2 are taken directly from the JomSocial component! The comments also pick up the sites members Avatars from JomSocial. For a non programmer that was a piece of work! :cheesy: I have also integrated a custom Facebook Like Button that shows at the bottom of K2 articles.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback that you may have about the site.

      Cheers
      Dave

    • Hi all,
Thanks for the comments. @oceana, that chat bar at the bottom of the page is Commet Chat . The other chat rooms are Flash Chat from tufat.com and is fully integrated into joomla so that only registered users are able to chat.

      Cheers
      Dave

Thanks for the comments Rufty. Here is a link to the feedback component: Client Feedback extension for Joomla . It is very useful as it shows you all of the following information:
The component was designed to be efficient and not interfere with the way you site currently works. Here are some of the main features:

      * Records the information clients always forget to tell you:
o Time the feedback was submitted
      o The submitter’s name
      o The submitter’s email
o The URL being viewed when the feedback was submitted
      o The user’s comments/feedback (of course)
o The submitter’s browser and version
      o The submitter’s operating system
      o The submitter’s screen resolution
o The name of the current script (the php file being viewed)
      o The referer URL
o The amount of time the user was on the page before the feedback was submitted
      o The submitter’s IP address
o The user agent of the submitter (information from this is listed above, but I left the user agent in as a “just in case”.
      * AJAX form submission – so the page does not reload when feedback is submitted.
      * Multiple email recipients – the feedback component can sent to as many different email addresses as you want
      * Multiple, transparent anti-spam measures
      * Fallback mode – the module (and form validation) still works even if javascript is disabled
      * You can add a custom HTML message that will appear above the form
      * The form can be positioned on either the left or right side of the page
      * The module is compatible with the Joomla MooTools 1.2 upgrade plugin
      * Multi-language support – see the current translations.
      * Every template is different so there is a z-index module parameter, a module top and a module width parameter for easier integration with different style sheets.
      * After many requests, I added a Start State option if you want the feedback form to load in a closed state (although this will disable the Fallback mode described above).

      Hi Rufty,

Sorry, My bad, my memory served me wrong. There is no css file the colors are hardcoded in the: your_site/modules/mod_feedback/tmpl/default.php

Then you need to look for this code at around line 69:
      #feedback-div .feedback-button {
right below that you cange the colors. Hope this helps.

      Cheers
      Dave
