    • howdy folks,

a few months ago i got serious about WP, officially moving from static sites to dynamic sites. shortly after i went gantry crazy and decided it was to be my only game for a while... so this week i will launch a few sites that i have been developing simultaneously..

here is the first: www.picoaltoperch.com check out the surf flick in the header, that i finished editing a couple days ago

please notice my appreciation for these powerful and sharp looking tools by my placement of gantry/rockettheme props in the footer after client and self branding.

      thanks again,

    • Hey m:

I tried the site in FireFox, Chrome and IE8 on Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate; as well as FireFox, Safari and Chrome on Mac OS X Snow Leopard and the menu operates as expected (in front of video) for all instances. It should be noted that all these browsers are up to date, so it may be that some older FF or IE installs may have issues...

Style-wise not too keen on the "suite" images below the video section. They are all different sizes and would look tons better if there were set to a site-wide specific size for that area.

You have really good content except on the suites sections...the images are great and all but I would have like more written information possibly about what is included with the suite, size, facilities, furniture (i.e. beds, etc.), and more. I just left the pages feeling like I wanted more info but it wasn't available unless I contacted you.

I hope this helps you, it is evident you've done some hard work here. BTW, I also like your logo :)

      Jeff

    • hey jeff,

thanks much for your feedback. It is the first real critique i've gotten. I intend on implementing your suggestions. i just changed the video embed from blip.tv to vimeo. later i will check on the friends machine to see if this solved. we are also super stoked on the logo. I developed the concept and rough sketchs, (i don't draw too well) and we paid an illustrator to give it the right life...-moolar

    • Now the menu appears fine for me, I knew I should have made a screenshot (or at least refreshed the page to make sure it was just not loaded incorrectly) :) I was using Rockmelt (Chromium 7) the whole time.

    • you were right before. but that was using the "blip.tv" embedded player. i switched to the "vimeo" player and that has likely solved the issue although i haven't had access to my friends computer to test again their. that was how i knew of it, because on my apple/safari was not having the issue. so, my conclusion so far, is the blip.tv player gives varied results with the menu interference only in some scenarios. although the vimeo player actually looks the best, my interest in blip.tv is the ability for serving revenue ads. and so the conclusion there, is i have to push the movie area further away from the navigation.
