Online TV Portal - Colormatic (under development)

Posted 17 years 8 months ago
    • Hello Rocketteers,

I'm working since 3 weeks on an Online TV portal based on colormatic template. The site is under development but actually, the global design and structure are ready.
Now I need to add thousand pages :P and build a LOT of internal links.

      Template and components:

      - just some little changes to the template colors (images and CSS)
      - several positions added
      - Monoslideshow (infortunately, I can't get it exactly as I want because IE6)
      - GSearch Pro
      - Joomla Transaltion Pro (just the old module at the moment; waiting for the next release of the component because the CB incompatibility)
      - Modified JC Vote
      - JomComment
      - JRE Cache component
      - SEF Patch Extended
      - SEF Advance
      - AjaxRecommend
      - Ajax Latest
      - Acajoom Pro

All comments are welcome! If I need to make some changes it would be now! Thanks!

EDIT: if you find errors in the english texts on the site, PLEASE tell me and I will correct ;)

    • Fantastic use of Colormatics there. You have really integrated your purpose into the right extremely well.

      Good job Franck.

Anyway to turn off auto play on the video, it can be annoying to users :)

      - one position added on the header (you can see only with IE ;) )
      - Monoslideshow (infortunately, I can't get it exactly how I want because IE6)
      - DOCman (just installed)
      - GSearch Pro
      - JC Vote (with some changes in the CSS because the initial bugs and stars changed too)
      - JomComment
      - SEF Patch Extended
      - Performs
      - Security Images
      - SEF Advance (disabled for the moment to build internal links)
      - JA Transmenu

I tried to use the fantastic Tags component from Phil Taylor but infortunately there is an incompatibility with SEF Patch... :'(

All comments are welcome! If I need to make some changes it would be now! Thanks!

      Very nice.

You're definitely on your way to a great site. Just some comments:

      1. I would put some custom icons in the Top Menu area (Home, Help, Contacts) section that fit in with your overall theme. They kind of stick out in a bad way. Maybe use some of the icons that are being used in the "Help Me Now" module position.

      2. While loading (Using Firefox 2.0.0.3), I get this in the Adver1/User1/User2? position: Gray box with the following text... Error loading background music file "album/extra.mp3".

      3. The image representing "Religion TVs" is different from the other two (very bottom of front page). The other two have a space between them e.g. News_TVs, Sport_TVs, but the last looks as follows ReligionTVs (all together).

      Hope this was helpful.

Thank you James for the kind words. I really worked hard on this site (on the main page and to make the html code of the internal pages). But it's just the first step. I need to add a LOT of TV and Webcam and elaborate much more for the future users! ;)
About the the player, well... I like to have the auto play when starting. In a first time I had disabled the sound of the player to start with the monoslideshow sound but I think it's more annoying :D

Thanks Sean for all your suggestions ;)
You are totaly right about the icons. I have a great collection of free icons and I will choose something better for the site.

I have preocupation (this word exist???) about the message you saw while loading ??? The music file "album/extra.mp3" is for monoslideshow. I tested the site with IE6, IE7 and FF2 and I don't had this issue... Please, can you load the site one more time to tell me if you have the same problem now?

I will correct the image at the bottom (Religion TVs) :) Thanks to tell me everything

And don't forget, If you see language errors please tell me. It's my first site in english and it's hard!!!

Finally, I thinking about solutions to have adsense more relevants. The problem is I use A lot of images and few text in the pages. I saw diferents sites with the same subject and few text but they have more relevant adverts... maybe it's just a matter of time or I will need to add some texts in the pages.

      Thx guys!

    • Hi Franck,

      great site.

one suggestion... whn i went to watch a channel, a 'get firefox' appeared. problem is, i was using firefox at the time.

Daniel Chapman has created a great tool that allows you to only show that module for a particular browser type... you can set it to only show that ad to IE users and show something else for FF users.

Find the shapechanger at http://www.ninjoomla.com . It is donationware - you will have to pay as little as $4 to get access to the module.. In fact I suggest pay $10 or more... you get access to three modules (currently) and more to come. Plus the support is top-notch. Highly recommended.

    • Hey Gollum!

Are you telling about the Get Firefox at the right of the player in the internal pages? Yes, it's a great idea! I used the <!--[if IE]> code in the header and don't use it in the main page! I don't know why I forgot this :D
I will take a look at the Daniel site. Now I have a lot of dificulties to surf on the web because a general internet problem in French Guyana. The Daniel's solution works only with modules? In the internal pages the player and Get Firefox are added in the content area and not modules...
      Thanks for the suggestions ;)

    • Finally I can work on the site again :D

      Added:
      - great module shapechanger from Daniel Chapman site www.ninjoomla.com for a better display of GG products.
      - acajoom pro (fiting to have the smart newsletter to function). I use the free version in another site and I'm thinking actually that 80€ for pro version it's not a good deal!!! Hope I'll can get it working properly...

      Any suggestion is welcome ;)

    • Please, someone can try to open www.tvsplanet.com with IE6? Just tell me if the site is loaded. I have a standalone version of IE6 and can't load properly in my computer. I just would like to know if it's the same with all IE6 users.

      Thanks a lot!

    • Hey Franck... it loaded perfectly into IE6 on a 17" 1024x768 display. Looks very nice and I LOVE that menu! Probably the best menu implementation I've seen to date. Love the semi transparent grey background. Is that MooMenu or Suckerfish?

A note of caution though... It did load excruciatingly slow though for me here in Southern California.

      Thanks so much Daniel ;)

I'm using the transmenu from JoomlArt.com It's very easy to install and I can add the flags for every country.

I think it's necessary to optimize the images in monoslideshow to load faster. I will try to do it :)

If someone else can test the site in IE6 I will be grateful!

      Cheers!
